Today we have been thinking again about weather and focusing on wind. We have therefore made the most simple kite but Little Boo loved making it then playing with it in the house!
All you need is
- Paper bag
- Lolly stick
- wool
- decorative items such as paper, stickers, sequins, felts and stamps.
- Glue
- scissors (if you wish this to be an exercise for practising cutting)
- Ribbon or crepe paper
Here is how we made ours
Decorate the bag however you like
Little Boo is LOVING cutting everything at the moment so this was a great activity to practise! |
Place a hole in the bottom of the bag in the centre. I did this by folding the bag and punching half a hole.
wrap some wool around a lolly pop stick and secure with tape on the stick, then thread through the hole. (the lolly pop stick just helps to reinforce and secure the wool)
We then placed some ribbon on the top of the bag just to make it look extra pretty! you can also use crepe paper.
All that is left is to fly your kite!
Hope that you enjoy making these we hoped to go outside and play with this afterwards but it started to rain really badly so played in the house instead. Hope we can go outside and play tomorrow.
how gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much I was a bit worried about this one as to whether people would like the idea. We were impressed with the outcome and I loved the way the activity enabled Little Boo to test out her scissor skills. Everything is being cut up at the moment hence I am keeping my purse out of her way have visions of a £20 note being cut into little pieces!
DeleteAmy I have been wanting to comment on your site for ages but keep getting stuck cos I have no profile or site of my own. You are my No 1 blog now and I have even gone back and read all your old posts. Move over Imagination Tree! And you are making me homesick with your visits to Brum and Wolvo! I am in Hampshire now but I will now make a special effort to come back with the sprogs. I used to live in Brierley Hill and work in the cities and I miss it sooo much! Maybe I will show my partner how ace it is according to your blog and one day we will return! I think you are fantastic and I love you and Little Boo to bits! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much I am so sorry that you have not been able to comment for ages. I have put some restrictions on the blog when I first started this is just to stop any SPAM entering onto the comments. I was unaware that this also made it difficult for people to post comments so will go back and take a look at this.
DeleteHopefully you will be able to come over with your children at some point and show them what the Midlands has to offer. Hampshire is beautiful though we have been camping there :)
I will look forward to seeing loads more comments and thank you I am really pleased that you are enjoying what we are doing. I would be really grateful if you could share any activities that you have completed on the Facebook page or email them me and I will put them on-line. I would really like to see the page being used more to show all our creations.
