Our first cake pops

When I realised what a success it was making the cake for nan and grandad's birthday. I started to look at more fun baking ideas then came across Cake pops! they looked fantastic and we had to try them out,  Firstly, we made a chocolate sponge cake which in itself tasted amazing the recipe we used I took from the cake pops book. Little Boo even managed to crack her first egg independently when we made this sponge cake. The recipe stated to use a 9 x 13 inch baking tray but I used our pirex dish that is 10 x 10 and this worked fine.

After making the cake we had to crumble it all up the add the chocolate frosting that we made.

Little Boo loved the crumbling! After adding frosting it was time to roll into balls!

Then add the sticks on first dip into the chocolate then stick into the chocolate balls that have been made.

After this we refrigerated them for a few hours then added on dipped chocolate and sprinkles.

Little Boo decided that she wanted to make sweeties I realise that they do resemble rabbit droppings though promise they are not.

After being in the fridge for a few hours again we wrapped them.  They are yummy!

They did take ages to make but were really good fun.  The process could be made easier by buying a ready made cake or a packed cake and adding the ready made frosting.  This would make it really simple.

  1. These look really fun to make (and eat. Next week I'm going to make something similar but instead of putting them on a lolly stick, I was going to put them in icecream cones.
