Puff paint fish

Today I have shared an activity with Little Boo that is on our summer pin it list making puff paint.  I  have always been pretty sceptical of this thinking that it will never work.  However, today when shopping I bought some empty sauce bottles that looked perfect for this activity they were not too big and very easy to squeeze. I am glad I brought them as this is so cool and it  does work really well. All you need is

• cup Self raising flour 
• cup Salt
• keep adding until right consistency water 
• paint good squirt. 
• strong cardboard

After the three colours were made Little Boo started painting with cotton buds (thanks to making boys men for the inspiration). The paint needs to be quite thick on the card to work.  We applied the paint with both cotton buds and then the bottles I had brought.

After painting microwave for 10 seconds.  This was fun as Little Boo liked to press the numbers on the microwave.

Once completed the paint puffs up and is hard to touch.  It is hot when first coming out the microwave though so be careful.

Feely box- guess the underwater animal

Sometimes the quickest ideas are the ones that bring the most fun and laughter.  That was definitely the case today all we did was make a feely box out of a shoe box and an old pair of Little Boos trousers.

We first of all felt all the underwater toys and made sure Little Boo knew the names for them all.  Luckily we managed to borrow these from the toy library this week and they are really nice toys.

Little Boo then started to put the animals in for Mommy to have a go .  She even told me how many animals there were in the box.

Here is a really simple idea that looks really effective and uses shells that you may have collected on the beach.

We started with the two paper plates one of which I cut the centre out of the other was left whole and coloured blue for the sea.  Little Boo wanted to put some stars in the back ground of hers as well.

Then some fish were decorated for the centre one was tissue paper the other one she decided to colour in and add some more stars (stars were very popular today).  

The fishes were glued onto the plate then some shells placed on the bottom.

One side of the other plate was coloured and attached to the back was a wrapper that was clear.  To make the window you could also use acetate or a clear plastic wallet.  Little Boo helped to tape this on. 

All  that is needed then is to tape the two plates together then you have a wonderful porthole scene.  I think that it would of been better with a larger plate and by using some fishing line on  the fish so they could all dangle in different places.  However, doing it this way has meant Little Boo can do all of it herself.
