Making crayons

I have been looking at making crayons for ages, the crayon box was calling to us to sort out all the odd pieces.  So today we decided to get it sorted.  This is a fantastic activity which incorporates fine motor skills.  Little Boo loved peeling the crayons to get them ready for cooking.

Chop or break up the crayons

Place them in  muffin tins which have been sprayed with cooking oil.   Once this is done place in a preheated oven 275 F for around 8 minutes.  Keep on eye on these though as they do melt quickly!

Take out the oven allow to cool and press out.  Please do not feel disappointed when they first come out the oven as the bottom of our crayons did not look very good but once pressed out we could see how well all the colours had taken.
